---> send email
Design #782 (Closed): BuiltinFunctions -- getting too long again!https://cocoa.dima.unige.it/redmine/issues/7822015-10-01T13:17:53ZAnna Maria Bigatti

Separate into two files functions proper of the cocoa language, and cocoalib functions.
E.g. functions about RECORD and functions about IDEAL.
Unfortunately the distinction is not so neat: "sum" is a language function (because works on LIST) or an algebraic function?
In fact we want to have a substantial set of functions "out of the way" when we modify the ever-increasing BuiltinFunctions file (so we should not be too picky on what can be moved out...)
Feature #771 (Closed): New fns: MaxBy and MinBy to find minimum/maximum of a list wrt a given orderhttps://cocoa.dima.unige.it/redmine/issues/7712015-09-05T13:58:01ZJohn Abbott

CoCoA offers
SortBy
for a sorting a list wrt a given order. Anders would like a fn to find the min/max of a list wrt a given order.
Support #768 (Closed): Rename LogToTerm to MakeTermhttps://cocoa.dima.unige.it/redmine/issues/7682015-09-03T12:51:17ZJohn Abbott

After renaming
log
to
exponents
the name
LogToTerm
makes little sense.

Suggestion: rename
LogToTerm
to
MakeTerm
-- this name is shorter and clearer.
Support #767 (Closed): Rename Log to exponentshttps://cocoa.dima.unige.it/redmine/issues/7672015-09-03T12:20:50ZJohn Abbott

In lnoe with using the same fn names in CoCoA-5 and CoCoALib we have decided to change
log
(of a power product) into
exponents
.

The old names
log
and
Log
are obsolescent; they will continue to work, but each call will print out a warning about being obsolescent.
Feature #761 (Closed): Evaluating a QuasiPolhttps://cocoa.dima.unige.it/redmine/issues/7612015-08-27T15:48:38ZChristof Soegercsoeger@uos.de

There should be an CoCoA5 function for evaluating a QuasiPoly. There is on in CoCoALib but we probably cannot use it easily because QuasiPoly is no CoCoA5 type.
Feature #760 (Closed): Primary Decomposition in CoCoA-5.1.3: zero dimensional, finite characteristichttps://cocoa.dima.unige.it/redmine/issues/7602015-08-06T08:57:51ZAnna Maria Bigatti

Updates from CoCoA-5.1.2
Feature #751 (Closed): description of a RINGhttps://cocoa.dima.unige.it/redmine/issues/7512015-07-29T10:46:01ZAnna Maria Bigatti

Implement
describe R
using function
R->myOutputSelfLong(out)

(needs some cleaning and refinements)
Feature #700 (Closed): Which external libs are present?https://cocoa.dima.unige.it/redmine/issues/7002015-05-13T10:08:26ZJohn Abbott

It might be nice to have a way in CoCoA-5 to know which external libs are actually present.
Bug #698 (Closed): Emacs UI: problems with packages on windowshttps://cocoa.dima.unige.it/redmine/issues/6982015-05-12T13:29:42ZAnna Maria Bigatti

The recent installation of CoCoA for the Computer Algebra course in Genoa showed a problem on Windows in finding packages.
Bug #650 (Closed): CoCoA-5 test (SourceAnna); problem in HilbertPolyhttps://cocoa.dima.unige.it/redmine/issues/6502014-11-12T10:22:58ZJohn Abbott

Sometimes the CoCoA-5 test
SourceAnna
fails (on 64-bit MacOSX).

The problem appears when executing the line:

TEST_ASSERT(HilbertPoly(Qxyz/ideal(x,y^2)), 2);

Support #632 (Closed): MacOSX: many warnings with compiler CLANG/LLVM when compiling BOOST code.https://cocoa.dima.unige.it/redmine/issues/6322014-10-03T09:57:54ZJohn Abbott

Recent MacOSX compilers produce lots of (spurious?) warnings when compiling BOOST code.

The warnings can be suppressed by adding the flag
-Wno-c99-extensions
to
CXXFLAGS_CUSTOM
on line 3 of
src/CoCoA-5/Makefile

Bug #345 (Closed): Interpreter interrupt delayed confusinglyhttps://cocoa.dima.unige.it/redmine/issues/3452013-04-24T14:18:49ZJohn Abbott

The following behaved unexpectedly in CoCoA-5 via emacs:

factorial(10000); // any computation with a long output
// press C-c C-c while the result is being printed
// the output is *not* interrupted
1+1; // the interrupt is recognised *after* sending this command!

Modify interpreter to "flush" any cached interrupts immediately before
starting execution of a new command.
Bug #117 (Closed): Added 3 times defn of isblank fnhttps://cocoa.dima.unige.it/redmine/issues/1172012-04-03T12:44:17ZJohn Abbott
To enable compilation on MSVC, I had to add defn of
isblank
.
Currently there are 3 separate (but identical) defns in the following files:

AST.C

C5.C

Lexer.C

It would be better to have a single defn somewhere; or perhaps import it from BOOST (if they offer one).
