COCOA School 2011
We are pleased to announce that the eighth International School on Computer Algebra: COCOA 2013 will take place on 10-14th June 2013 at Institut für Mathematik of Universität Osnabrück (Germany).

The school will be held the week after MEGA 2013 (3-7th June, Frankfurt am Main, Germany).

Following the very successful format we have used for the previous schools, there will be two intensive courses with CoCoA tutorials:

Course 1 Lorenzo Robbiano Sets of Points and Mathematical Models tutor: Maria-Laura Torrente
Course 2 Winfried Bruns Algorithms for toric geometry tutor: Christof Söger ..
The tutors and assistants will be able to provide help for participants in the use of the computer algebra system CoCoA. Students who own laptops are encouraged to bring them for use during the tutorials. The CoCoA system is available for installation by downloading it from the CoCoA web page.

There is space in the school for about 30 participants, who should currently be enrolled in a doctoral programme somewhere in the world or be recent postdoctoral fellows. All students who are accepted for admission to the School will receive a scholarship which will cover the expenses for bed & breakfast.

Those wishing to participate in the School should submit a letter of application to either

Lorenzo Robbiano or Anna M. Bigatti

The Letter of Application should include the applicant's CV as well as the applicant's reasons for wanting to take part in the school. There should also be included the (email) address of one mathematician who can act as referee for the application.

Applications are evaluated on a continuous basis up to 31st March, 2013 and the final decisions about scholarships will be made before the end of April by the Organizing Committee.

The scholarship has these extra condition: the successful applicant must present a poster (50x70 or 100x70 cm) during the school describing his field of research and communicate the title by the end of April 2013.

The school is partly funded by:

Information about costs, accommodations, method of payment, etc. will come in the next announcement.
